It’s that time of the year where Strictly Come Dancing is back on our screens. The famous competition is well underway with people already placing their bets on the winner on the Strictly betting 2018 sites.
With the launch of the new series, many people come down with ‘dancing fever’ and try out dancing for themselves. Although some people don’t enjoy the experience, others find it very enjoyable and continue to take lessons or practice by themselves.

Before you even think about improving your dancing, you’ll need find someone that is able to teach you and knows their stuff. Although there are plenty of tutorials available on video sharing sites such as YouTube, nothing can beat the one-on-one tutoring you get with an instructor.
A great dance teacher not only teaches new techniques which you need to practice, they’ll also help you correct any mistakes you may have not picked up on. If you’ve been dancing for a while with the same instructor, it could be worth looking around for a different teacher.
Watch other dancers
Dancing is an art form that has been performed for thousands of years, with different approaches and different styles. As a result, many people have made a living off dancing by becoming professionals and competing in various dancing competitions. If you’re an aspiring dancer then you’ll want to watch the dancers closely, noting things such as their body position and technique.
These dancers have dedicated hours of their lives to make dancing their career and practice almost every day to stay at the top of the field and be versatile in many styles of dance. By watching videos of them in action, you might pick up on something they do and incorporate it into your own routine.
Work on your technique
Whilst you might know everything there is to know about dancing, it will be useless if you can’t perform certain moves or routines. Certain people might be more naturally gifted than others when it comes to technique, but it is something which is always a work in progress.

A good rest is vital, but you should also try to eat better. This might be one of the hardest things to do, but poor eating habits can be detrimental when you really want to improve your dancing. Instead of getting junk food, you should eating fruit and vegetables instead. Not only will these foods be good for your energy, it will improve your health in the long run.
Taking good care of your body will help you avoid injuries and improve your health and stamina.
Be determined
It might seem simple, but as you would have realised, dancing is very difficult to perform. The professionals spend the majority of their days practicing and refining their techniques in order to become the best dancer possible.
It might be disheartening from the beginning knowing that you’re not as skilled as you thought you were, but everyone has to start somewhere. You are guaranteed to dance poorly some days, but this will be expected. It is up to you to power through it and continue to practice.
To grow as a dancer, you’ll have to push yourself to the edge of your abilities. The more you practice, you and your dancing instructor will work on any issues with your technique to bring your dancing further. This might seem like a lot of work, but if you’re serious about dancing, you’ll have to dedicate a lot of time to it.
